Canon India's revenue from government grows 25%

Canon, the Japanese imaging and printing firm, has grown its revenue from the government vertical by 25 per cent and will end end this calender year with a revenue of Rs 850 crore. The sector was just 15 per cent of its business in 2008. “Although our growth was down to 18 per cent in the first quarter 2009, we will close the fourth quarter with a growth rate nearing 30 per cent. Bharadwaj adds: “Canon will now focus on public sector that faces renewed pressure to deliver greater efficiencies at lower costs. Decision makers are now recognising the importance of technology solutions to improve internal processes and reduce costs.” Canon is eyeing emerging sectors like power and healthcare to multiply its business next year. “Power sector will be our big ticket in 2010, with all electricity boards under overhaul,” said Bharadwaj. Canon estimates that new IT systems that are to be deployed in the power sector would require around 50,000 printing & imaging equipment, ranging between Rs 45,000 and Rs 6 lakh.
