Kaspersky eyes $12-16 mn revenue from India in 2 yrs

We are looking at a 100 per cent growth rate from the Indian market," Kaspersky Director (Channel-South Asia) Alexander Gnatusin told reporters here. The company"s revenues stood at $3 million in the previous fiscal, he added. According to research firm IDC, the India Secure Content and Threat Management (SCTM) software market in 2008 was estimated at $60.6 million and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 17.6 per cent over the period 2008-2013. Anti-virus (AV) software is also covered under this category. He, however, declined to comment on the number of units shipped last year and targets this year. The company has launched a security solution "Kaspersky Internet Security 2009", which provides protection against viruses, spyware, trojans, hijacking, botnets, identity thefts and is equipped with virtual keyboard and parental control. The solution is priced at about Rs 500 for single user. The company is also planning to set up an office in the country. "We are planning to set up an office in India in the third quarter of this year and we will invest about $2 million for the office and other promotional activities this year," Gnatusin said. The office would cater to sales, marketing and technical support for India and would have a staff of about 10 people. "Mobile solutions are also going to be a major revenue earner for us. With the security threat that has come up on data-centric devices like Blackberry, we would like to offer solutions for this segment as well," he said. The company already offers security solutions for Symbian and Windows-enabled mobile handsets (like Nokia and Samsung) and is working on solutions for Blackberry devices as well.
