Kingfisher Airlines chief Vijay Mallya has been elected President of the Aeronautical Society of India, replacing former Chairman of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Ashoke Baweja.

The Society is a body of serving and former professionals in the areas of aeronautics, aerospace and aviation and its primary purpose is to promote exchange of ideas and innovations in the fields of science, technology and management.
In the elections a week ago, Joint Director General of DGCA R P Sahi was appointed the Chairman of the Delhi Branch of the Society.
DGCA Director Lalit Gupta, Head Projects and Corporate Affairs of Interglobe GA Debashis Saha, former Director (Planning) of Air India Ashok Bhushan, Senior General Manager of Jet Airways A K Sivanandan and former DGCA chief HS Khola, who was also the former Society President, were reappointed to the Executive Committee.
