Nifty ends at 2009-closing high

Sensex has finally ended (provisionally) at 17,336 - up 104 points. The Nifty ended (provisional) at 5,172 - up 27 points. The BSE realty and the metal indices are up around 1.5% each. Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Motors have added 2.5% each a Rs 1,096 and Rs 764, respectively. Mahindra & Mahindra, ONGC, TCS, Sterlite and Tata Steel are firm, up 1% each. Jaiprakash Associates is the most prominent loser still on the Sensex, down 2% at Rs 143. NTPC, Bharti Airtel and ITC, down 1% each. The market breadth is fairly positive, out of 2,865 shares traded, 1,602 have advanced and 1,169 have declined so far on the BSE.
